Types of Commercial Roofing
Many commercial buildings have different types of roofing materials than you will find on homes or other buildings. At Watershed, we can repair and replace all of them. We see the following types of roofing the most often, though we will replace or repair any type of commercial roof that you if. If you don’t know what kind of roof you have or yours isn’t listed here, call us for a consultation so we can help you figure out exactly what you need for your roof.
Flat Roofs
Most commercial roofing in Denver tends to be flat, rather than sloped like many residential roofs. We specialize in the following products for flat roofs:
- EPDM Rubber Roofing. Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer, or EPDM is a recyclable, synthetic rubber that works well on many flat roofs. It is environmentally friendly and energy-efficient, meaning that it helps you keep your building the right temperature while using less energy. This can make a great flat base for a roof garden.
- TPO Roofing. Thermoplastic Polyolefin, or TPO, is similar to EPDM roofing in a lot of ways. It is a single-ply membrane and is also energy efficient. It’s usually white but can come in any color, which is a lot more than you can say for EPDM rubber.
- PVC Roofing. PVC roofing is sustainable and eco-friendly. It will stay in great shape regardless of modifications you may want to make, like adding solar panels, putting in roof gardens, and adding other enhancements. Some PVC roofs some with Energy Star ratings and so are energy efficient, too.
- Green Roofing. As of January 1, 2018, if your building has over 25,000 square feet in Denver, the Green Roof Ordinance states that you should put in a living roof. This means planting on your roof and/or installing solar panels. You can put these in on top of or alongside any type of roof listed here. In addition to being good for the planet, green roofs
- Add beauty to your building
- Increase the building’s resale value
- Provide for cleaner air
- Offer an outdoor environment for meetings and relaxation
We can help you get the green roof you need without a lot of stress and hassle. Let us make sure you’re compliant with these new laws.
- Torch Down Roofing. Torch down roofs don’t use tar, so they avoid some of the fume issues that other flat roofs can have. The more layers of roofing you lay down, the stronger and more waterproof your roof will be. We recommend three layers of torch down roofing, but we will evaluate your particular situation and help you choose what’s best for your commercial roof.
- SPF Roofing. Spray Polyurethane Foam, or SPF, offers a lightweight, waterproof solution for your commercial roofing needs. We will apply this to your roof deck with a spray gun. It comes out as a liquid but turns into a foam within just a few minutes. This makes it great for filling in cracks or holes. The foam has an exterior coating that protects it from degradation due to sun exposure.
Sloped Roofs
Just because many commercial roofs are flat doesn’t mean they all are. If your roof is sloped, we have solutions for you, too!
- Metal Roofing. Metal has been used in the roofing industry for years. It’s long-lasting, with some roofs being warrantied for up to 50 years! It also tends to be maintenance-free, since metal is hard to damage. However, if you experience a lot of temperature fluctuations, keep in mind that your metal roof may be damaged by expansion and contraction.
- Commercial Shingles. You can use any type of shingle on a commercial roof, just like you can on a residential one. These include, but are not limited to:
- Asphalt shingles
- Wooden shakes or shingles
- Ceramic tiles
- And more!
If you’re not quite sure what type of shingle you have or what you need, we’ll help you find ones that are perfect for your roof and that will last for a long time on your commercial building.
No matter what type of commercial roof you have or need, we will get it installed for you quickly and efficiently. Call us to make an appointment for an initial consultation today!
